Personal information we collect
We collect three categories of personal information: (1) personal information you give us; (2) personal information automatically collected from your use of the Services; and (3) personal information from third-party sources.
1) Personal information you give us
Account data. When you register for an account, we collect information such as your name, email address, phone number (if provided), and password or authentication token. We may also collect account status, preferences, and settings.
Profile data. You may choose to provide additional profile information, such as profile photo, city/region, biography, driving experience indicators, and other information you elect to share. Some profile information may be visible to other users as part of your public profile within the Services.
Driver eligibility data. To enable certain features and help reduce fraud and safety risk, we may collect driver eligibility information such as a driver’s license number, issuing state/country, expiration date, date of birth, and related information. We may also collect images of your driver’s license or other documents you submit.
Identity verification data. In some instances, we (or our service providers) may collect identity verification information such as a photograph of a government-issued ID, selfie image, payment card verification data (e.g., name and last four digits), proof of address, or other identification materials. Where we request redaction of certain fields, please follow those instructions.
Insurance documentation data. We may collect insurance information and proof of insurance documents that you upload. KPER does not verify, approve, or guarantee coverage; collection is for workflow, recordkeeping, and platform administration purposes only.
Vehicle data. If you list or participate in a swap involving a vehicle, we collect vehicle-related information you provide, such as make, model, year, VIN (where requested), license plate, mileage, location, availability, vehicle photos/videos, modifications disclosures, inspection photos/videos, and related descriptions.
Swap and transaction data. We collect information you provide related to swaps and transactions, such as swap requests, confirmations, handoff/return details, timestamps, inspection checklists, notes, dispute submissions, and “Courtesy Balance” entries or offers.
Payment data. If you pay fees to KPER or use payment-enabled features, we collect transaction information (amount, date/time, payment method type, and payment status). Payment card and bank details are typically processed and stored by third-party payment processors; we may receive tokenized payment identifiers and confirmation data.
Communications. When you communicate with KPER (support requests, email, phone, chat), or when you message other users through the Services, we collect the content of communications and related metadata (date/time, participants). We may also collect attachments you share (photos/videos).
User research and surveys. We collect information you provide if you participate in surveys, product research, or feedback programs, which may include demographic information if you choose to share it, recordings (where disclosed), and written responses.
Events and community content. If you join forums, community features, or event-related features, we may collect posts, comments, RSVP information, and any content you choose to upload.
2) Personal information we automatically collect
Usage data. We collect information about your interactions with the Services, such as pages/screens viewed, features used, searches, clickstream activity, time spent, referral URLs, error logs, and activity timestamps.
Device data. We collect information about the device used to access the Services, such as operating system type/version, device model/manufacturer, browser type, IP address, device identifiers, language settings, and general location derived from IP address (e.g., city/region).
Location data.
-
Approximate location: We may infer approximate location from IP address.
-
Precise location: If you opt in through device permissions, we may collect precise GPS location for certain features (e.g., facilitating handoff logistics). You can control precise location permissions in your device settings.
Log and diagnostic data. We may collect system activity logs and diagnostic information to maintain security and performance, detect fraud, and troubleshoot.
Cookies and similar technologies. We (and companies we work with) may use cookies, pixels, SDKs, and similar technologies (“Cookies”) to operate the Services, remember preferences, analyze usage, and support marketing/advertising where applicable. You can manage cookies via browser settings and, where offered, cookie preference tools. We do not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals.
3) Personal information we collect from third-party sources
Third-party login providers. If you choose to sign in using Apple, Google, or similar services, we may receive registration and profile information from them (e.g., name, email). The information we receive depends on the provider and your settings.
Verification and fraud/risk vendors. Where permitted, we may receive identity verification results, document authenticity signals, fraud indicators, or risk signals from service providers.
Payment processors. We receive confirmations and transaction status from payment processors, as well as chargeback or dispute information.
Insurance and claims-related communications. If users share information with their insurers or other parties and those parties contact us, we may receive information relevant to an incident, dispute, or platform enforcement.
Other sources. We may receive information from public sources, complaints, reports, or other users (e.g., reports of prohibited behavior). We may combine this with other information we have.
